| Adoption Services |
Adoption services refers to the placement of children in adoptive homes and includes the recruitment and training of adoptive parents, home studies, assessment of children for adoption, adoption information disclosure, counselling, worker participation in the adoption hearing, counselling for birth parents, and the provision of support to adoptive parents once the child is placed in their home. |
| Child Care Services |
When a child's safety cannot be assured in his/her home, the child may come into the residential care of CAS through voluntary agreements or court orders. |
| Child Protection Intake Services |
When a child is alleged to be in need of protection, a series of child protection activities are initiated. These activities may include reception and investigation, prevention of circumstances, a voluntary agreement with the family, placement with foster care families or in other settings. It may also include initiation of court proceedings, or a review of the continued need for CAS support and wardship. |
| Family Services |
A variety of client services are offered based upon completion of an investigation and the application of the Risk Assessment Tool. These services may include information, referrals to other community agencies, counselling, support and assistance to families and children. |
| Foster Care/Residential |
When a child is unsafe in their home, they may be placed temporarily or permanently in the care of the Children’s Aid Society. The residential resources used most often include foster care, specialized foster care, treatment foster care, group homes, and institutional care. |
