Sudbury Multicultural and Folks Arts Association promotes multiculturalism in the Sudbury Region and provides local immigrant and newcomer assistance services. The Association is also actively involved in assisting local cultural groups in preserving, promoting and sharing their cultural heritage.

The Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association is looking for individuals available to be reffered to local newcomers (immigrants) for babysitting assignments. This may include weekdays, evenings and weekends.

 Programs
Name Description
Cross-Cultural Education Program This program offers a variety of cultural education services including presentations in schools and the community, international cooking classes, presentations on anti-racism and cultural sensitivity. It aims to promote multiculturalism in the community by heightening public awareness of the benefits and necessity of cross-cultural understanding.
Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program The Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation program is a federally funded initiative through Citizenship and Immigration Canada that works to assist immigrants with their immediate settlement and integration needs. Services are delivered on a one-to-one basis and provide information and referral services, orientation, translation and interpretation, solution-based counselling, and assistance with job search. Services focus on the newcomer’s immediate settlement needs such as housing, employment, health care, education and transportation. Group sessions are also offered for both general information or specific topics (ex: annual tax clinic).
Multicultural Youth Council This is an opportunity for enthusiastic, outgoing youth to participate in a variety of activities that allow for the interaction and sharing of cultural diversity. It aims to bring awareness to social issues through discussions, awareness programs, and activities. The group is also involved with the International Youth Festival, ethnic dance programs, and fundraising activities.
Newcomer Settlement Program The Newcomer Settlement Program is a provincially funded initiative that strives to assist newcomers successfully settle and adapt to their new home here in Canada. The program offers individual assistance with such issues as housing, employment and employment-related skills training, healthcare, education, and other settlement issues.
